A 14-year-old Boyet Junior High School student was booked on a felony count of battery on a teacher after he allegedly shoved a school employee to the ground, a Sheriff’s spokesman said.
The incident caused school personnel to call the Sheriff’s Office, who located the male student near Gause Boulevard and North Pearl Drive just a few blocks from the school, according to Capt. George Bonnett of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The student will be booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center, Bonnett said.
The teacher, a 67-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
School system spokeswoman Meredith Mendez said the school was never on lockdown.
Boyet Junior High, near Slidell, has seventh and eighth grades.
