Slidell motorists will encounter a number of street closures this weekend, one to allow work on a railroad crossing and the others to accommodate an outdoor concert at Heritage Park.

Norfolk Southern Railroad crews will remove and replace the railroad track and put down new asphalt at the crossing west of the Gause Boulevard-U.S. 11 intersection. Gause will be closed in both directions from 4 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday, Slidell officials said in a news release.

Detour signs will be in place to mark an alternate route, and drivers should expect delays.

The city also is closing the Heritage Park boat launch and roads into the park Saturday to accommodate “Some Enchanted Evening,” an outdoor concert by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra at 6 p.m. Sunday, with preliminary events beginning at 4 p.m.

The boat launch will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday. Both entrances into the park will be closed, and public parking will not be available inside the park.

Portions of Bayou Lane and Pennsylvania Avenue immediately outside the park will be closed beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, and only vehicles with parking passes will be allowed to enter.

Visitors can park in the lot at Bayou Lane and Pennsylvania Avenue. Shuttle service will be provided from 5 p.m. until the concert ends.

The concert will be moved to the Slidell Municipal Auditorium in case of rain.
