One man is in custody and more arrests are expected as Slidell police continue to investigate the city’s third homicide this year.
Felix Adams Jr. was booked with first-degree murder after an officer spotted his car about 11:30 Sunday night, SPD spokesman Daniel Seuzeneau said.
Adams was sought in connection with the killing of 23-year-old Leighton Powe Jr., whose body was found Saturday in a ditch along Javery Road.
Although Powe’s body was found outside the Slidell city limits, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives determined that he had been shot in Slidell and transported to where he was found.
Slidell Police detectives took the lead in the case with cooperation from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Seuzeneau said.
A tip prompted police to look for the car Adams was driving, Seuzeneau said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and more arrests are expected, he said.
Adams on Monday was held in the Slidell City Jail until he can be transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
