Students of all ages and interests learned the art of making crab nets at a class offered at the Castine Center at Pelican Park in Mandeville.

Earl Kessling, a crabber in Mississippi, has been teaching the popular class, which was sold out last week.

The next class is at 6 p.m. Aug. 27. Cost is $15, and students finish with all the tools necessary to continue making nets.

Registration for these or other Pelican Park programs can be completed online at or at the park offices from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
