St. Paul’s School student is finalist for national leadership award _lowres

Beau Briggs, a rising senior at St. Paul’s School in Covington, has been chosen as one of 14 national finalists for the President’s Leadership Award presented by the U.S. Golf Association-American Junior Golf Association.

The award is given to golfers who demonstrate leadership, character and community service through their involvement with the Leadership Links program. Briggs raised $10,200 in 30 days and the USGA added $6,800 to his total. The $17,000 was given to the ACE Grant, the Kelly Gibson Foundation and the Covington Food Bank.

Briggs is the son of Travis and Erika Briggs, of Madisonville. He finished seventh in the Division I state finals in Shreveport last season as a member of the St. Paul’s team, which placed second in the Division I tournament in May.
