As expected, Melinda Crawford qualified Thursday to run for the Mandeville City Council District 2 seat being vacated by Carla Buchholz.
Michael Pulaski also has qualified to run for the seat in the March 5 election. Buchholz is seeking an at-large council seat.
In Madisonville, Jean Pelloat qualified to run for mayor, joining Mark Badeaux. Longtime Mayor Peter Gitz has yet to qualify.
Also in Madisonville, Myron Bourg and Chris Hitzman added their names to the pool of council candidates, bringing the total to five. The city’s five council seats are all at-large seats.
Mandeville’s elections are expected to be intense, with Councilman Rick Danielson bidding to unseat Mayor Donald Villere. The two have frequently clashed over several issues.
The City Council races could also see fireworks, with Jeff Lyons challenging Ernest Burguières for the District 3 seat and businesswoman Lauré Sica joining the at-large council field, from which two will be elected.
Incumbent at-large Councilman Clay Madden had not qualified as of Thursday afternoon but said he planned to do so Friday, which is the last day for candidates to qualify for the March 5 election.
