STARS AND STRIPES SALUTE: From Nov. 8 through Nov. 11, Ochsner Boulevard in Covington will be lined with 500 U.S. flags placed there by Stone Creek Club and Spa to raise money and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project. Businesses and individuals may sponsor a flag.
This is the second year for Stone Creek’s Stars and Stripes Salute, which raised more than $15,000 in 2013.
“We wanted to involve the entire community in our effort not only to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project but also to salute our nation’s veterans,” said Larry Conner, Stone Creek’s general manager. “Seeing 500 flags lining the street creates a visual impact in the community. I want them to make a statement. I want kids to ask their parents about them. It gives us a reason to talk about our nation’s brave men and women who have served our country — and thank them.
The fee to sponsor a flag is $25 for one flag for an individual or $500 for 10 flags for a business. To donate or sponsor a flag, visit support.woundedwarriorproject.org/individual-fundraising/StoneCreek.
