The St. Tammany Parish Library will honor those who served our country with a Veterans Day program featuring military historian Ronald Drez and his book “Predicting Pearl Harbor: Billy Mitchell and the Path to War” at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Madisonville Library, 1123 Main St.

Drez’s book focuses on the storied William “Billy” Mitchell, an Army general who is considered the father of the U.S. Air Force but who was also court-martialed for insubordination.

Also discussed are predictions of a war between America and Japan made by two military strategists, Homer Leo and Hector Bywater, before the Pearl Harbor attack happened.

Drez holds a master’s in history from the University of New Orleans. He is a decorated Vietnam veteran who has published numerous books and articles on military history.
