Covington Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who fired a small caliber gun at 18-year-old Kawon Moore, hitting him in the chest late Tuesday night.
Moore told police that he was walking along Emily Diamond Way near W. 29th St. in Covington when he heard a pop and felt a stinging sensation in his chest, according to Chief Tim Lentz. Moore ran to a nearby apartment he was visiting, and friends drove him to the hospital. There, doctors removed a small caliber bullet, perhaps from a pellet gun or a .22, Lentz said. Moore’s wound was not life-threatening.
Moore told police he had not seen any vehicles in the area nor had he seen anyone on foot.
Detectives are asking for help from the public because the crime has no witnesses and no crime scene to process, Lentz said. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Covington Police Department at (985) 892-8500 or Crime Stoppers at (877) 903-7867.
