A 23-year-old Slidell woman was killed and two men were injured Tuesday morning in a two-car crash near Lacombe, according to a spokesman for the Louisiana State Police.
Angela Maria Mangini was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. The two men — Anthony Batiste and Anthony Roberts, both of Lacombe — were taken to Slidell Memorial Hospital with moderate to severe injuries, according to Trooper Dustin Dwight.
The crash happened when Mangini, who was driving west bound on U.S. 190 west of Lacombe with Roberts as a passenger, overcorrected after her Ford Crown Victoria ran off the road to the right, sending her into a spin.
Batiste, who was driving his Ford pickup truck east bound, tried to avoid Mangini’s spinning vehicle by moving onto the shoulder, but was unable to do so and his truck hit Mangini’s car in a “T-bone” style collisioin, Dwight said.
Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, Dwight said. At this time, Troopers do not suspect alcohol to have played a role in the collision.
