LSMSA: Exploration Day at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts will be from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10. Students in grades 8-11, along with their families, will tour the campus, meet staff and current students and sit in on classes led by the third-ranked faculty in the nation. SLIDELL HIGH SCHOOL: The Slidell High School Band Boosters will hold an arts and crafts fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the school, 1 Tiger Drive, Slidell. PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Bayou Woods Elementary School, 35614 Liberty Drive, Slidell, will hold a school and community pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nov. 11. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under age 10 for a meal of pancakes, sausage, grits, coffee, milk and juice, to dine in or take out. PAUL'S SCHOOL: Andrew Aceves, a junior at St. Paul's School in Covington, performed "To Thee Cherubim and Seraphim" from Handel's Te Deum in his successful audition for the Louisiana Music Educators Association Allstate Chorus. He will perform in the Bass 2 section in the mixed choir during the Allstate Choir Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center, 4728 Constitution Ave., Baton Rouge.
ABITA SPRINGS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: Students from kindergarten through third grade at Abita Springs Elementary School recently participated in a fire safety poster contest sponsored by the Abita Springs Fire Department. The winners from each grade level won $25 bookstore gift cards. The winners were Brooklyn Rains, third grade; Madalyn Stricklan, second grade; Harper Hilbun, first grade; and Chloe Cleland, kindergarten.
FLAG ETIQUETTE: Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Homer Williams Post 8720 recently presented a flag etiquette class for 180 third-graders at Abita Springs Elementary School.
