The St. Tammany Parish School Board recently announced its policy for free and reduced-price meals served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs. All schools and the central office have a copy of the policy.
Free meals are available for children from families of three with an annual income of $25,727 or less, or from families of four with an annual income of $31,005 or less.
Reduced-price meals are available for children from families of three with an annual income of $36,612 or less, or from families of four with an annual income of $44,123 or less. The policy has information about the guidelines for different family sizes.
Application forms are being sent to all homes. To apply for free or reduced-price meals, households should fill out one application for the household and return it to the school. Additional copies are available at each school.
Applications may be submitted at any time. The information is confidential; it will be used to determine eligibility. Information may be verified at any time during the school year by school or other program officials.
