Gajan, a beloved former running back for LSU and the Saints and a WWL radio analyst, died April 11 following a bout with cancer. He was 56.

Building projects at St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville will benefit from the proceeds of the Jewel of Madisonville gala and auction from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Castine Center, 63350 Pelican Drive, Mandeville.

The event will feature food from more than 50 St. Tammany Parish restaurants, silent and live auctions, and live music from the Swing 101 Big Band. Citrine sponsorships, available for $125, include tickets to the gala and to the patron party, which begins at 6 p.m., and a commemorative party favor.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 57210 Allen Road, Slidell, will hold vacation Bible School for children from kindergarten through sixth-grade from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18-22. HOSPITAL ART EXHIBIT: An opening reception for the “No Place Like Home” art exhibit at St. Tammany Parish Hospital will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the main lobby of the hospital, 202 S. Tyler St., Covington. The rotating exhibit will include oils on canvas, pastels and photography capturing the natural landscapes and treasures of St. Tammany. It will be on display through Sept. 5 in the education hallway off of the main lobby, and the 3 North bridge and patient hallways.

The featured artists are Ed Estapa, Erin Rhode-Fiorello, Ferris Hotard, Pegge Hesse, Georgia Trist, Susan Tullos and Sue Zaunbrecher. The organizer of the exhibit is the Healing Arts Committee of the St. Tammany Hospital Foundation.
