A man wanted for a daytime stickup at Slidell phone store was arrested Aug. 8 in Jackson, Miss., after he tried the same thing there, a Slidell police spokesman said. What’s more, the man was wanted for similar crimes in Gulfport, Biloxi and Hattiesburg, Miss.
James Brister, 36, of Gulfport, is accused of going into a Slidell Boost Mobile store and making a purchase on Aug. 6, Sgt. Daniel Seuzeneau said. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, Brister allegedly took out a pistol and demanded the money in the drawer.
Slidell Police asked for the public’s help in identifying the man. They were soon contacted by the Gulfport, Biloxi and Hattiesburg police, who described similar incidents in their jurisdictions. But Brister eluded capture.
On Aug. 8, Brister is accused of doing the same thing at a Jackson-area Metro PCS store, where he was caught. Slidell Police visited the Hinds County Jail and got evidence linking Brister to the Slidell armed robbery, Seuzeneau said.
Seuzeneau couldn’t say when Brister would be extradited to Louisiana, since he is also wanted in Gulfport, Biloxi and Slidell.
