FREE CANCER SCREENINGS: The Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital will offer free breast cancer screenings, financed by donor gifts, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Neilsen’s Pharmacy, 1619 S. Columbia St., Bogalusa.

A clinical breast exam will be provided to women of all ages. Mammograms will be available to women 40 and older who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months. Insurance will be billed for mammograms, but there will be no charge for women without insurance.

NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: Jamie Romage, a clinical information specialist with St. Tammany Parish Hospital, is the recipient of the fall 2014 Dorothy L. Blossman Nursing Scholarship awarded by the St. Tammany Hospital Foundation.

Romage received the scholarship to continue working on her master’s degree in nursing informatics at the University of South Alabama. She has been with St. Tammany Parish Hospital since 2000 and is scheduled to graduate in August.

Since 2009, Blossman has awarded 11 scholarships to nurses at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, according to Charley Strickland, executive director of the St. Tammany Hospital Foundation.
