A Pearl River man could get 99 years in jail after he was convicted Thursday of sexual battery in the molestation of a 6-year-old girl who was the daughter of a man who came to his house, according to Lisa Page, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Warren Montgomery, whose district includes St. Tammany and Washington parishes.

Joshua D. Liner, 39, will be sentenced June 22.

The girl reported the abuse to her mother, saying Liner had touched her inappropriately and made her kiss and touch him, too. The girl said she was afraid and didn’t want Liner to get angry at her. The abuse happened in 2013.

Another woman testified during the trial that Liner had molested her from the time she was 6 until she was about 12, Page said.

The potential jail time for sexual battery of a minor is 25 to 99 years, Page said.
