St. Tammany Parish’s property tax roll will open for inspection Aug. 15 and remain open until Aug. 29, according to Assessor Louis Fitzmorris.

While the roll is open, residents can check their tax assessments at either the Covington office, located in the Justice Center at 701 N. Columbia St., or the Slidell office in the Towers Building at 520 Old Spanish Trail. The office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The roll also can be checked online at

Fitzmorris encouraged all residents to check their assessments while the roll is open and confirm that their physical and mailing addresses and all other information are correct before the roll is certified and tax bills are issued.

Anyone who wishes to challenge their assessment may do so during the open roll period. The deadline for filing for an assessment review is Aug. 29.

Fitzmorris urged residents who wish to file for a review to do so early in the two-week period to allow time for the review to be completed and a written response issued. That response is necessary if a resident wants to file an appeal of the assessor’s final decision, which must be done by Sept. 15.
