The lockdown at Madisonville Junior High School has been lifted after the school was searched and no gun was found, a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s spokesman said.
The school had been on lockdown for about two hours after a student reported seeing another with a gun, according to Capt. George Bonnett. Law enforcement officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Madisonville Police Dept. and Louisiana State Police were involved in the search.
The student later admitted that the story was made up, Bonnett said.
Madisonville Junior High is located about a block off of La. 21.
