A 50-year-old Slidell man who was spotted by a neighbor loitering near a teenager’s house pleaded guilty Monday to raping the 15-year-old girl in 2014, a spokeswoman for 22nd Judicial District Attorney Warren Montgomery said.
Laron S. Bester pleaded guilty to two counts of forcible rape, indecent behavior with a juvenile and sexual battery.
He will be sentenced April 27 and faces between five and 12 years in prison. Judge Raymond Childress has ordered a presentencing investigation.
Bester was a friend of the family, and the victim told authorities that he had behaved inappropriately with her on previous occasions.
The victim told authorities that on the day the neighbor saw him, Bester had gone to her house, removed her clothes and sexually assaulted her, despite her pleas for him to stop.
The girl’s grandmother went to investigate after the neighbor raised concerns, and she saw that someone had escaped through a window. The victim then told her family what had happened, Page said.
Assistant District Attorney Joey Oubre handled the case.
