Rotary Big Game Raffle

The Northlake-Mandeville Rotary Club is once again offering tickets for the Big Game Raffle, which will raise money for local charities.

There are 26 prize packages up for grabs this year, with each offering premium tickets to local sporting events and more. The different packages offered include tickets to Saints games, LSU games, Tulane football season tickets, three Pelicans games, UNO basketball season tickets, as well as a fishing trip for four to Port Fourchon, LPO concert tickets, Jefferson Performing Arts Society tickets and more. Many of the packages include parking passes, hotel stays and restaurant gift certificates.

Raffle tickets cost $20 each. The drawings will be in late August.

GOLF BENEFIT: Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church will hold its fourth annual Church Expansion Benefit Golf Tournament on June 27 at Oak Harbor Golf Club near Slidell. The four-person scramble will begin with registration and lunch at noon. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $100 per person and includes greens fees, cart, lunch, a seafood dinner and fun. NORTHLAKE NATURE CENTER: Programs at the center, 23135 U.S. 190 near Mandeville, include:

  • Bicycling the Back Trails: 6 p.m. Monday, June 30. Helmet required and mountain bike (or wide tires) recommended.
  • Kundalini Yoga: 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. Breaths and mantras lead to relaxation and enlightenment.
  • Nature Walk and Titivation: 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 9. Smell the clean air and hear the birds rejoice as you visit the multiple habitats of the center. Reserve a lopper to spruce up trails while walking on the two-hour tour.

SAFE BOATING CLASSES: The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will hold safe boating courses at the Castine Center in Pelican Park from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. June 28 and Aug. 9. Preregistration is required. For more information, call (985) 626-7997.

YOUTH BASKETBALL CAMP: Professional basketball player and Salmen High alumnus Chris Duhon will hold his 10th annual basketball camp for boys and girls ages 7 to 15 on July 21-25 at the Fritchie Park Gymnasium in Slidell. The five-day camp is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, except July 25, when dismissal will be at 1 p.m.
