Mandeville police officer Becky White represented her department by running the Gulf Coast Half Marathon in Mandeville — in full uniform. Cheered on by her fellow officers who were stationed throughout the route, she completed the race in 2 hours, 11 minutes.

Running the 13.1-mile course is an admirable endeavor under the best of conditions. But in an effort to raise money for Louisiana Special Olympics, White ran the race in her MPD uniform to help raise money and awareness for the Louisiana chapter. LASO was present at the post-race festival accepting donations. Donations also can be made directly online at www.laso.org.

This is not White’s first run to highlight her involvement in law enforcement. This spring, she ran the New York Police Department Memorial 5K race. She was the 15th female overall, with a time of 22:35 for the 5K.
