An 18-year-old living in the Forest Brook neighborhood near Mandeville has been arrested after a search of his home revealed numerous drugs that the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office believes he intended to sell to area students during the school year.

Police arrested 18-year-old Mitch Maggio after finding 128 grams of “high grade” marijuana, several grams of cocaine, morphine pills, a 9 mm handgun and other drug paraphernalia at his residence at 2315 Crossing Court.

He now faces seven separate charges of possession with intention to distribute the various types of drugs found in the house, as well as possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office said it conducted the search on Wednesday to coincide with the start of school on Thursday.

Maggio lives within the attendance boundaries of Lakeshore High School.
