Two people died Friday evening in a two-vehicle crash on La. 25 just north of Covington, State Police said.
The victims were identified as Edith R. Brown, 82, of Mandeville, and Joseph Cyprian Jr., 83, of Folsom.
Troopers were dispatched to the crash site shortly after 6 p.m. They determined that Brown was driving a 2003 Cadillac Deville southbound on La. 25 when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2013 Lincoln MKS driven by Cyprian.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts but were severely injured and died at the scene.
Cyprian’s wife and front-seat passenger, Lois W. Cyprian, was severely injured and was flown to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond.
All three were removed from the wrecked vehicles by St. Tammany Parish Fire District No. 12 firefighters.
Troopers do not suspect impairment to have been a factor in the wreck, but blood samples were taken from both drivers and will be analyzed by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.
