COMMUNITY MEETING: St. Tammany Parish Council member Maureen O’Brien will hold a community meeting for constituents of District 10 at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in the Mandeville Council Chambers, 3101 E. BLESSING OF THE GRAVES: This year, the Blessing of the Graves ceremony will include the new Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, which opened in June. The blessing will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the cemetery, which is adjacent to Camp Villere just north of Interstate 12 in Slidell. FRAME OF MIND: Artwork created by clients of NAMI St. Tammany will be displayed and sold during the Frame of Mind art exhibition and gala at 7 p.m. Saturday at the St. Tammany Art Association, 320 N. Columbia St., Covington. The event also will feature food, wine and beer, and an auction of items donated by local artists and businesses.

HANDLING HORSES: Ron McLoughlin, of the Classical Stock Seat School of Arizona, will hold a horse-handling seminar from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Folsom Library, 82393 Railroad Ave.

McLoughlin, an international clinician, has conducted more than 881 clinics to date. Topics to be covered include lightness, 17 basic maneuvers, footwork, leads, balanced stops, seat position and solving horse-handling problems.

Donations will benefit Rainbow Childcare Center, a United Way partner agency during the November sale.

SAFE TALK SEMINAR: Suicide Alertness For Everyone, safeTALK, is a half-day suicide alertness program that teaches community members to recognize people with thoughts of suicide and to connect them to suicide intervention resources. The program will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Slidell Memorial Hospital Founder’s Conference Room on Nov. 6.

The class has been approved for 2.5 general CEUs from the NASW-La Chapter. Cost is $35. Registration is required.
