A reminder of why it's important to keep an eye on that Halloween candy, courtesy of the Pearl River Police Department.
The department shared images Tuesday of candy that contained a needle, which was distributed somewhere in the Oak Street area, they said.
"The Pearl River Police Department is taking this incident very serious (sic) and is going to investigate this horrific act," read the post on their official Facebook page.
They warn anyone who went trick-or-treating in the area to check any remaining candy, if they haven't already done so.
Anyone with information is asked to reach out to the department.
