A 23-year-old woman accused of driving while intoxicated was arrested early Saturday morning after going the wrong direction on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, according to a report.
Elena Svob was arrested in the incident, WWL-TV reported, citing an arrest report that said she was traveling 63 miles per hour. Officers deployed spike strips at a crossover to flatten the tires on Svob's vehicle, slowing it down until police vehicles could box it in, WWL reported.
A witness on the bridge shared a video with WWL showing the vehicle heading southbound on the northbound span.

The arrest report said that the officer who came into contact with Svob after the crash "observed glassy, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and swaying. The report said the officer detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage," WWL reported.
Svob was booked on one count each of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having an expired license plate and aggravated obstruction of a highway.
