Covington summer theater program to present ‘Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.’ _lowres

The CLAPS summer theater program for high school students will present “Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.” at 10 a.m. Thursday-Saturday, June 12-14, at the Covington High School Performing Arts Center, 73030 Lion Drive, Covington.

This adaptation of the J.M. Barrie play was specifically written for young audiences, ages 4 and up, with a total performance time of 75 minutes and no intermission. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults and are available one hour before curtain. For information, call (985) 893-9843.

Participants in the Covington Louisiana Actors Playhouse System audition for positions as actors, singers, dancers, musicians, set crew, lighting technicians, backstage crew, costume and makeup artists, choreographers and public relations personnel. Students are provided with the opportunity to work with and learn from professional artists who are the stage directors, music directors and technical directors. The directors possess both formal education and professional experience including stage, film, television and grand opera.

The cast of “Peter Pan Jr.” includes Payton Core as Peter Pan, Camille Albarez as Wendy, Collin Cagle as John, Roman Polito as Michael, Calla Harper as Tinker Bell, and Hunter Cheramie as Captain Hook with Cameron Harmeyer as Smee and Chase Hefte as the Crocodile.

Others in the cast are Cody Counts, Hannah Archabault, Jada Burton, Titus McCann, Douglisha Hamilton, Catherine Comardelle, Elora Thorn, Shelby Duhe, Jennifer Vo, Emily Mizell, Haley Moon, Mary Claire Hessmer, Alli Mathis, Maddy Monlezun, William Gary, Olivia Loupe, Nicole Naquin, Desmond Moss, Natalie Rushing, Scarlett Taylor, Abby Stolz, Farrah Daws, Abby Ketelsen, Sarah Lucia, Matthew Braselman, Ivan Huerta, Kaitlin Fouquet, Philip Mizell and Rebecca Lucia.

Technical theater students for the season are Payton Core, Kaitlin Fouquet, Michael Gibase, Titus McCann, Maddy Monlezun, Jessica Pittman, Alyssa Riley, and Scarlett Taylor. Professionals for the season are Gary Mendoza, stage and technical director, Cedric Bridges, music director, and Ric Watkins, producer. Mona Nasrawi is the stage manager and Stephanie Kippers is the assistant producer. Costume construction and supervision is by Bonnie Stokes, Cedric Bridges and Ric Watkins.
