A fight at a Slidell apartment that escalated into a stabbing early Monday morning left an 18-year-old Slidell man in critical condition and another booked with attempted second degree murder and other charges.

Weston Mitchell, 19, allegedly started fighting with the other man at a home on Rose Meadow Loop. The men then went to the Batiste Apartments where the fight continued and Mitchell allegedly stabbed the other man in the chest.

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies went to the apartment in response to a fight. But friends who were at the scene had already taken the victim to Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was later transported to University Hospital where he remained in critical condition Monday afternoon.

Deputies found Mitchell at his home at about 5 a.m. Monday morning and arrested him. He was booked into St. Tammany Parish Jail on one count of attempted second degree murder, one count of aggravated obstruction of highway of commerce and simple battery.
