A Slidell woman has been booked on a count of cruelty to a juvenile after she allegedly left her 14-month old child in an inflatable pool while she was inside for more than 20 minutes, according to Suzanne Carboni, a spokeswoman for St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain.

Natashia Allen, 24, was booked June 23. The incident occurred June 3.

Deputies were called to the house for a report of an unresponsive child. The child was taken to Ochsner North Shore and then to Ochsner’s Medical Center in New Orleans, Carboni said.

During the investigation, detectives determined that Allen had left her child in an inflatable pool while she went inside for 25 minutes. She was booked on a count of second degree cruelty to a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Additional charges are possible, Carboni said.

The child has been transferred to and remains at Children’s Hospital, Carboni said.
