Business damaged by fire in Slidell’s Olde Towne _lowres

Spiehler’s Service, a lawn and garden equipment store in Slidell’s Olde Towne section, was damaged in a fire Sunday, Chad Duffaut of St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1 said.

The fire was reported by a neighbor who called 911. Firefighters arrived at the structure at 2557 Carey Street at about 9:30 p.m. and extinguished the fire within 21 minutes.

About 40 percent of the roof burned away, Duffaut said, but fire damage to the interior of the building and contents was minimal. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
