FRANCHISE OWNERSHIP: The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University is holding a seminar titled “Franchise Megatrends: Is Franchise Ownership a Realistic Career Alternative for You?” from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15.

The free seminar with instructor Ted Fireman will be held at the St. Tammany West Chamber of Commerce, 610 Hollycrest Blvd., Covington.

Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern SBDC, said the workshop will teach participants about franchise business ownership and the numerous opportunities available in the franchise world.

There is no cost to attend the event; however, registration is limited to 15. Those who register by July 10, Summers said, can take a free business ownership assessment online and receive a 10-page report before the seminar.

PROFESSIONAL WOMEN OF ST. TAMMANY: The Professional Women of St. Tammany installed its 2015-16 board members during its June luncheon at Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville.

Professional Women of St. Tammany will provide educational workshops throughout the year, allowing members to network with other professional women. Women who have achieved great success will be honored through its annual Professional Woman of the Year banquet. Proceeds from the banquet will finance scholarships for St. Tammany women pursuing advancement in the workforce. The group’s website is pw-st.org.
