A boil-water advisory has been issued for residents of several streets in Covington after a water main broke Tuesday, according to a news release.
The break caused a drop in pressure and may have allowed contaminants to get into the water. Residents in the affected area should boil water for one full minute in a clean container before using it, the release said.
The advisory will remain in effect until the city rescinds it, which will take a minimum of 48 hours.
The streets affected include South Adams, South America, South Louisiana, South Jahncke, South Massachusetts, South Washington, South Water, South New Hampshire and South Vermont streets; East Fifth, East Sixth, East Fourth, East Third, East Second and East First avenues; Phyllis Drive, Ann Street, Old Landing Road, River Bend Drive, Bennett Road, Cypress Drive, Pine Street, Bogue Falaya Drive, Alma Loop, Lucie Lane, Durel Drive, Poplar Street, Riverview Drive and Cypress Cove Place.
