A suspect in a pharmacy robbery in Covington

Covington police detectives are investigating the armed robbery of a Walgreens shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, Police Chief Tim Lentz said in a news release.

The robber entered the manager's office, brandished a silver-colored handgun and ordered the manager to put all the store’s money into a bag, Lentz said.

The manager was then ordered to lie face-down on the floor and count backward from 1,000. The robber left through an emergency exit with an undisclosed amount of cash, Lentz said.

Detectives obtained surveillance footage from the store. The robber is considered armed and dangerous, and Lentz asked anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Covington Police Department at (985) 892-8500 or CrimeStoppers at (504) 822-1111.
