A 66-year-old Covington man was found guilty Friday of two counts of sexual battery of a victim under 13 in incidents that involved two young girls, according to a spokeswoman for 22nd Judicial District Attorney Warren Montgomery.

Charles Pineda will be sentenced Dec. 12 by Judge Raymond Childress, who set a $20,000 sentencing bond over the objections of Assistant District Attorneys Blake Peters and Holly McGinness, spokeswoman Lisa Page said.

Pineda was charged with sexually abusing one of the victims, whose family were friends, from the time she was about 8 years old until she turned 12, from 2008 through 2012, Page said.

The second victim was 5 years old when she was sexually abused by Pineda in 2014.
