The JOY Quilters and Bible Study of Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Slidell recently held a special luncheon at the home of Kathy Jones to distribute funds raised at the group’s annual JOY Fellowship Auction.

The JOY group is sponsored by area Lutherans and meets at Lamb of God Lutheran Church on Allen Road.

An annual auction of handmade items created by JOY members and their supporters raised $16,200, which includes a $1,500 contribution from Thrivent Financial. The recipients are The Caring Center, Community Christian Concern, Mount Olive Feeding Ministry, National Alliance of Mental Illness-St. Tammany, STARC and East St. Tammany Rainbow Child Care Center.

JOY celebrated 34 years of year-round work on quilts, homemade items and the securing of donations for the annual auction. The auction monies are distributed to needy organizations in the Slidell area.
