Jacki Schneider, a Lacombe business owner, has announced that she is seeking the District 7 seat on the St. Tammany Parish Council, which represents Lacombe, eastern Mandeville and southern Abita Springs.
Schneider, 63, is a former teacher who co-owns the Brian Schneider Company with her husband and serves as an officer of Bayou Lacombe Construction Co.
She has a degree in education from LSU and has worked in the trucking, restaurant and jewelry business.
“With my business experience, I understand the importance of solid budgeting and responsible stewardship,’’ she said in a prepared statement. “As an educator, I know how to communicate and will be constantly accessible to the people of our district.’’
District 7, which includes Lacombe, eastern Mandeville and southern Abita Springs, has drawn several candidates, including incumbent Groby, business owner Joseph Savarese and teacher Gerrin Narcisse.
Schneider is married and has two grown children.
Qualifying for the Oct. 24 primary is Sept. 8 through 10.
