New Orleans police report a carjacking in Algiers, armed robberies in Hollygrove and Carrollton and a stabbing in the CBD.
Here’s a rundown of each incident with preliminary information from NOPD:
Location: 100 block of St. Charles Avenue (CBD)
Time: 3:20 a.m. Thursday
What happened: A 45-year-old man was approached by a man asking for spare change. The begger took out a knife and stabbed the victim, who was taken to an area hospital. No information on his condition.
Location: 2400 block of South Carrollton Avenue (Carrollton)
Time: Around 3 a.m. Thursday
What happened: A 31-year-old man was approached by five men who demanded his phone. The victim refused, and the men hit him in the back of the head with a bat, took his phone out his pocket and fled.
Location: 3100 block of Fern Street (Hollygrove)
Time: About 10:30 a.m. Wednesday
What happened: A 38-year-old man was approached by a man, who took out a gun and demanded money. The victim said he had no money. The robber then demanded the victim’s wallet, which had about $100 in cash, and fled.
Location: 3100 block of Rue Parc Fontaine (Algiers)
Time: About 10 a.m. Wednesday
What happened: A 48-year-old woman was getting out her car when she was approached by an armed man, who pulled the woman out her car then got in and fled. The carjacker lost control of the victim’s car and struck and fence and building. He made off with a gun from the woman’s car and fled. The carjacker then approached a 32-year-old man and demanded his vehicle. The man complied, and the carjacker fled.
