UPDATE (June 18, 8:30 p.m.)

The Department of Transportation and Development says all lanes are open on I-10 East at Orleans Avenue, and the entrance ramp from Esplanade Avenue to I-10 East is re-opened as well. 

Traffic from the closures reached Tulane Avenue on I-10 East and Earhart Boulevard past U.S. 90B East. 

The New Orleans Police Department shut down traffic to investigate a shooting that happened on I-10 East near North Claiborne Avenue. 

The NOPD said a man was shot in the incident and was taken to West Jefferson Medical Centerl by a private vehicle for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. 


A reported shooting on I-10 eastbound has congested traffic in the area, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The NOPD said all lanes of traffic are closed starting at the Orleans Avenue while the investigation unfolds.

The Department of Transportation and Development's New Orleans Traffic Twitter account said traffic is being re-directed at the Orleans Avenue exit, with congestion reaching U.S. 90B East past Earhart Boulevard.

The account later tweeted the entrance ramp from Esplanade Avenue to I-10 East is also closed due to police activity.
