Two people were injured in separate shootings that occurred in less than an hour overnight in New Orleans East, police said.

Shortly after 3 a.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the shoulder in the 4800 block of Nottingham Drive, the New Orleans Police Department said in a preliminary offense log. He was transported to an area hospital by EMS.

His condition was not immediately available.

At 3:40 a.m., police responded to a shooting at Tynecastle Drive and Pressburg Street, less than a mile from the shooting on Nottingham Drive. A 20-year-old man told police that he was sitting inside his vehicle with a woman when two people wearing ski masks approached and opened the doors. One of the people fired a shot into the vehicle, striking the man, police said.

The man “sped off” and drove himself to an area hospital, police said. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Police did not indicate whether the two shootings were related.
