Two men were shot overnight across New Orleans, according to police, one who was victim of a robbery and another allegedly in the process of committing one.
The first incident occurred just after midnight Saturday morning in New Orleans East. A 21-year-old man said he was moving his vehicle in the 8700 block of Dinkins Street when multiple armed men approached from around a corner, according to a police report.
The driver told police he heard one of the men yell "shoot him," at which point he was shot. The armed men then entered the grey, 2006 BMW and fled the area. The shooting victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The second shooting occurred about 3:38 a.m. in Treme. A 76-year-old woman said she was asleep in her home in the 1300 block of Esplanade Avenue when she was awakened by a loud noise, according to a police report. The woman said she saw a male in her room holding an unknown object, and she shot him out of fear.
The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment; his condition was not immediately available.
