Two men and a woman were found dead in a "horrific scene" in New Orleans East Saturday, NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said, all three appearing to have died from gunshot wounds.

The triple homicide occurred in the 6700 block of Brutus Street, according to police. The report was sent out just after 9 p.m.

Harrison said the three adult victims were found on the kitchen floor, and the home did not show any evidence of forced entry. All three victims were pronounced dead on scene.

No motive or suspects have been released, as the investigation is in preliminary stages, Harrison said. It is believed all three victims were in the kitchen at the same time, and at some point someone entered the home, Harrison said.

"The most important thing right now is for anyone who would know anything about this residence, anything about this block, anything about why these individuals would be here, what they were doing … to please come forward," Harrison said.

The murders come on the heels of a particularly violent stretch for the New Orleans area. Four people were killed in Metairie on Wednesday, and a mother and her two sons were killed in Gentilly on March 10.

Harrison said the slayings were another indication of why the violent culture in New Orleans must be addressed.

"It is about the culture of violence that we are always working to change. How people deal with conflict in this city and how people value human life," Harrison said. "Certainly we are always working on that in our police response, but certainly there is some responsibility for people valuing human life and dealing with their conflicts in a better way, other than using violence."
