An Orleans Parish Sheriff's Deputy had his gun and uniform stolen from a vehicle in Bayou St. John on Tuesday, according to an NOPD release.

The theft happened about 3 a.m. in the 3100 block of Toulouse Street, police said.

The man had parked in the driveway of a residence after finishing a shift, the release said. When he returned to the vehicle about 5:15 p.m and opened the passenger-side door, he observed that the middle console was open. He saw his wallet lying on the passenger seat, and that his service weapon, uniform, two magazines and two gold Michael Kors watches were missing from the vehicle, the release said.

It was unclear whether the vehicle was locked at the time of the theft.
