Investigators have secured a warrant to arrest a suspect in the slaying of a teenager whose body was dumped on a Metairie street Tuesday afternoon, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
But the suspect's name was not released because he was not in custody, and detectives were still gathering information about the death of 17-year-old Tyris James.
James' body was found in the 2300 block of North Arnoult Road, between West Napoleon Avenue and Interstate 10. That was one street over from his listed address, which was in the 2300 block of Edenborn Avenue, according to Jefferson Parish Coroner Dr. Gerry Cvitanovich.
Witnesses on Tuesday told authorities that James' body had been pulled out of a car and left on the street before the vehicle drove off. A gunshot wound to James' head was visible.
The Sheriff's Office has not discussed a motive for the shooting.
