A Lacombe man was arrested on allegations that he beat and critically injured his father on Saturday night, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, St. Tammany Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 59400 block of Pineridge Road in Lacombe. Deputies found a 57-year-old man unconscious inside the home. A family member told deputies that the man had been in a fight with his son, who had left the residence, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
While deputies were still investigating, the son – identified as 27-year-old Casey Melerine – returned to the home. He was taken into custody and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on one count of second-degree aggravated battery.
The father was transported to a hospital on the south shore, where he remains in critical condition with a head injury, the Sheriff’s Office said.
