A Metairie man was killed after stopping at a gas station in Hahnville on Monday, his car later discovered miles away.

Ryan Dubuc, 28, was on his way to his job as an electrician in St. Charles Parish when a man approached his truck and entered it, according to a report from WWL-TV

“We do not think that they knew each other,” said St. Charles Parish Deputy Chief Joe Cardella in the report. “This victim was just picked out at this gas station.”

Dubuc's body was found just before 10 a.m. on the side of the road on Highway 3160 in Hahnville. His truck was found in a sugar cane field in the Belle Point subdvision in LaPlace.

“We believe this was a robbery that went bad,” Cardella said to WWL-TV, also noting that Dubuc's truck is being searched for forensic evidence.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 783-6807.
