After leading a car chase Thursday, two teens were apprehended by New Orleans police, leading to the discovery of several stolen vehicles.
One the vehicles was an unmarked police car that had been reported stolen on Thursday.
Kenneth Lewis and Dashawn Lowery, both 18, were arrested and booked for possession of stolen property. Lowery was also booked on a charge of resisting an officer.
The pursuit began about 3:51 p.m. on Thursday, when a Seventh District officer identified the SUV driven by the teens as reported stolen. When the oficer approached in a marked cruiser, the SUV sped off. Officers gave chase, losing track of the vehicle before finding it parked at the intersection of Warfield Street and Chantilly Drive, police said.
Lewis and Lowery were both arrested on foot in the 7000 block of Warfield Street. A third suspect was seen on surveillance video fleeing the vehicle, but has not been found, police said.
Further investigation led to the discovery of several stolen vehicles parked at the Chateau Lane Apartment Complex on Chef Menteur Highway. The unmarked police vehicle stolen from the 7500 block of Wave Drive on Thursday was among them, although the officer's service weapon was not recovered.
