Five Tulane University students were robbed at gunpoint in an off-campus incident on Saturday night, according to officials.
Around 10:40 p.m., three women and two men were walking in the 900 block of Hillary Street when they were approached by two men, one of whom produced a silver gun and demanded money, the New Orleans Police Department said in a preliminary offense log.
One of the men gave his wallet and one of the women gave her purse to the robbers before they fled, NOPD said.
Tulane police identified all five victims as students. According to Tulane police, the alleged robbers took property from three students before fleeing westbound on Burthe Street toward Adams Street.
Tulane police said that victims described one suspect as about 6 feet 1 inch tall with shoulder-length dreadlocks. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.
The other suspect was described as 5 feet 11 inches with short hair, wearing a dark sweatshirt.
The robbery was one of five that New Orleans police reported between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
