Scaffolding that collapsed Tuesday evening at a worksite on Poydras Street in New Orleans fell onto several vehicles, but no one was hurt, officials said.

Around 4:50 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department responded to 701 Poydras Street, One Shell Square Building for a scaffolding collapse, according to a NOFD news release.

When firefighters arrived, they found about eight tiers of scaffolding, which had been against the building, had fallen onto cars and a streetcar track.

Two people were in vehicles that were struck by the scaffolding but they escaped without injury before firefighters arrived, the report said. Power to the streetcar track was turned off until the scene was cleared.

The New Orleans Fire Department, New Orleans Police Department, New Orleans Emergency Medical Services and Regional Transit Authority responded to the incident.
