A man was fatally shot in the Gentilly Terrace neighborhood Saturday evening, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Officers were called to a home in the 4900 block of Lafaye Street just before 7:30 p.m. for an aggravated battery by shooting call. When they arrived, an unresponsive man was found lying on the floor inside of the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The NOPD said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are working to gather evidence and information to identify a suspect and motive. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name after an autopsy and notification of the victim's family.
