Triple murder New Orleans East

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the three victims fatally shot inside a small house in New Orleans East on Saturday night.

The victims were identified as 57-year-old Catherine Caufield, 66-year-old Clifton Norbert Jr., and 58-year-old Joseph Davis.

Police said Saturday night they found a woman and two men shot to death inside the home in the 6700 block of Brutus Street. Police Superintendent Michael Harrison described the house as "a horrific scene."

Harrison said the three were shot to death in the kitchen. There did not appear to be any signs of forced entry, he said.

According to a summary released Sunday morning by police, the man who first reported the crime said he left the house to go to a store and discovered the three victims suffering from gunshot wounds when he got back.

On Sunday, neighbors said Caufield had lived in the home for less than two years. One neighbor, who didn't wish to be identified, described Caufield as friendly, but said she had long worried about the safety of people living in that house because of apparent drug activity.
